See 9 to 5 - The Musical at the Savoy Theatre

Hailed a ‘triumph’ after opening on Broadway in 2009, 9 to 5 the Musical is the hilarious stage adaptation of the 1980 film. It celebrates Dolly Parton’s magnificent score, including of course the anthemic ‘9 to 5’ title track. Sharing the same wit and laugh out loud moments, the production is nostalgic and delightful. So what are you waiting for? Put on those cowboy boots and grab tickets to 9 to 5 the musical now. The film starred Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Dolly Parton herself as three women on a mission to get revenge on their sexist boss. It is one of the highest-grossing comedy films of all time, thrusting Parton into the limelight. The country singer is now the powerhouse behind the musical’s original score, nominating Parton for a Grammy. The West End production has an equally exciting team. Patricia Resnick is behind the book and Natalie McQueen, Louise Redknapp, Amber Davism Bonnie Langford and Brian Conley all play lead roles – some of the cast making their West End debuts. The talented actresses play Doralee, Violet and Judy, three colleagues who consistently battle their sexist, egoist, pompous boss, Hart. They’ve been passed on promotions, hit on at work, ostracised and more. Feeling on the brink, they decide to concoct a plan to kidnap him and get their revenge. With the boss tied up in his own house, Violet, Judy and Doralee set to work reforming the office. But what will they do when the Chairman of the Board decides to pay a visit? The plot is an ode to anyone taking care of business. It’s empowering, uplifting and outrageously funny. While you’ll hear many tracks from the cult film, like ‘Backwoods Barbie’ and ‘Get out and Stay Out’, The Queen of Country has also added a host of new songs; ‘Around Here’, ‘One of the Boys’, ‘5 to 9’ and ‘Heart to Hart’. If you’re ever in need of a pick me up or want to work out some angst against your boss, this show will definitely do the trick. Bag tickets to 9 to 5 the Musical now and start practicing your lasso moves.
